Marjorie has been married to her husband, Greg, for 39 years. Together they have built a close-knit family that includes their six children, ten grandchildren, and Buck, their dog.
A dedicated advocate for community safety, crime prevention, and community wellness, Marjorie became a grassroots voice for positive change in Chatham-Kent. Her passion for community service was sparked when she took a stand against negative influences in her neighbourhood. In 1999, she
founded East Side Pride, a local organization focused on strengthening the community through collaboration, partnership-building, and trust. Through her leadership, East Side Pride helped create sustainable and positive change in the neighbourhood.
Driven by her commitment to the wellbeing of all residents of Chatham-Kent, Marjorie ran for Municipal Council in 2006, further demonstrating her dedication to public service and community leadership.
Marjorie has spent many years working in the manufacturing sector and currently serves as the Volunteer and Community Wellbeing Coordinator at Family Service Kent. In this role, she continues to connect people, foster community engagement, and champion initiatives that improve the quality of life for residents throughout Chatham-Kent.
Current Community Involvement
- Coordinator, Taylor Park Redevelopment Project – Leading and collaborating with community partners on the redevelopment and enhancement of Taylor Park to create a welcoming and vibrant space for residents.
- Fundraising Support for the W.I.S.H. Centre – Assisting with fundraising initiatives that help the W.I.S.H. Centre continue providing valuable services and support to the community.
- Member, East Side Pride Community Association – Continuing to support and promote neighbourhood pride, community engagement, safety, and positive community development through active involvement with the organization she founded in 1999.

2024–2026 – Coordinated, with community partners, the Taylor Park Redevelopment Project, helping revitalize and enhance a valued community space.

2022 – Recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal.

2017 – Received a Chatham-Kent Police Service Board Citation for enhancing community safety and well-being through leadership, insight, and contributions to the development of the F.I.R.S.T. Strategy.

2012 – Recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal.

2012 – YMCA Peace Medallion Recipient in recognition of commitment to peace-building efforts within the community.

2012 – Received a Chatham-Kent Police Service Board Citation for ongoing achievements in helping keep Chatham-Kent safe.

2009 – Coordinated the development of BME Freedom Park with the Black Historical Society and partners.

2009 – Received a Chatham-Kent Police Service Board Citation for outstanding contributions to the Neighbourhood Policing Project, the Crime Prevention and Safety Board of Chatham-Kent, and community policing initiatives.

2008 – Participated in the development of the new Community Policing Model for the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police.

2007 – Received the Paul Harris Fellow Award from the Chatham Rotary Club.
